As part of the Principal Engineering team, you are part of a unit that is highly recognised and an experts of key technologies within the business.

Your objective as a DBA Principal Engineer is to provide structured framework that enables support and drives maximum value to both client and their customer by ensuring best practices in deploying and managing Oracle database infrastructure are in place.

Key Challenges in this role:

1. Integrator and leader to bring together the customer and stakeholders in the technology planning process to define and implement best practices for deploying and managing Oracle Databases such as RMAN, Dataguard, Oracle Streams and Enterprise Manager along with other existing and emerging new features

2. Advise other IT professionals on tools, technology and methodology related to the design and development of Database solutions, and participates in evaluation, assurance and selection

3. Work effectively with other team members to understand customer needs and to design, evaluate and develop and articulate complex technical challenges and opportunities to a range of non-technical stakeholders

Your responsibilities and duties will be to lead the development of best practices reference for deployment and management of Oracle database infrastructure technologies; work with Solutions Architect Teams to review solutions, provide guidance, support and leadership to ensure architectural blueprints and standards support; lead the management of pro active initiatives and innovation across the database delivery team, ensuring effort is channelled to maximum benefit and provide awareness on the impact these innovations have on their business and provide hands-on guidance and assistance to the Oracle DBA SME's to understand and effectively leverage the capabilities across the broader business.

Key skill requirements:

1. At least 3 years experience in a relevant position
2. Tertiary qualifications in IT studies
3. Minimum 10 years experience - OCM
4. Consulting/leadership background with solid experience in customer engagements and management of senior technical professionals
5. Working knowledge of financial analysis and management to include development of business cases and cost/benefit analysis
6. 7+years in management of large and complex databases in complex applications within a high performance production environment
